Today we woke up in Cozumel, Mexico. We got off the ship and took a ferry from the island of Cozumel to the mainland, to Playa del Carmen. From there we took a bus to Xcaret Ecological park. We only got to do a handful of things while we were at the park- we could have spent all day seeing the whole thing. The girls got to hold parrots and have parrots stand on their heads. This was fun- until a parrot bit one of Emmy's beads off her head. So scary- good thing it was only a bead. She was so sad about this (so the sweet girl who did her braids on Monday redid part of her hair and gave her some new beads). The rest of the visit was fun and educational- and frightening (Emmy had a lot of scary new experiences). We swam in an underground river- it was amazing to all of us (but scary for Megan and Emmy- they couldn't wait to get out) The little girls got out early with Shari and Kira, so Rob and I stayed with the big kids until the end. We also did some snorkeling in a small bay. So interesting to Maddie, so scary again for Emmy and Megan- they didn't like swimming with the fishies. We also had lunch on the beach at a beautiful bay and the girls had fun playing in the calm water- trying to catch little fishies. That part was fun for them.
After we got back to Cozumel, Rob took the girls back to the ship and Shari and I went shopping :)
That night we went to dinner at Parrot Cay. It was pirate night. The tables were set with pirate bandanas for each of us to wear and we had a fun pirate menu. The girls got cute light up Tinkerbells to wear to the pirate deck party later that night.
The pirate deck party was a blast. There was fun music and dancing, a great buffet, and a cute show with the Disney characters dressed as pirates. After Captain Mickey saved the day, the evening ended with a great fireworks show at sea. Our kids were so tired- the two little ones were sound asleep long before the fireworks. Too much fun all in one day!
